bienvenue france

I made it to France with relatively few problems, though I have never been so stressed while traveling. My flight out of Houston left an hour late because the plane was late getting into Houston, then once it landed they annouced the plane had mechanical problems: meaning the radar was not funtioning properly. Eventually they allowed us to board and we departed an hour late. The flight to Washington DC was the most stressful part because not once did they update us on when we would arrive in Washington. Then once we landed they announced that we were unable to pull into our gate because there was a plane blocking it. Once we finally unboarded the plane I power walked to the other terminal as fast as I could and was one of the last people to board. The flight over the Atlantic was uneventful; quite bumping but not awful. Arriving in Paris was not bad initially because the girl on the flight over was also studying abroad so we made it through the airport together. Its sort of funny because I found it much easier to enter France then Honduras (a developing country) they just looked at your passport pic to make sure you matched your passport and stamped it. After waiting for an hour for my bags i decided to give up only to find they were not as fast as me and they were still in Washington DC; now they dont know where they are. After reporting my missing bags I headed over to the train station; only to discover there was no heat in the train station and it was like -14 °c when we landed so i was really cold. I managed to make friends with a South African Foozball team who were also shivering while waiting for the train to Nantes because they were going to play for the world championship in Nantes. After boarding the train I was separated from them and the train ride was uneventful. When I arrived in Nantes my host mom and Christine were waiting for me with a sign that said . She took me to a boulangerie where I got a ham, cheese, and butter sandwich after she explained to me that you cannot be vegetarian in France, it was pretty yummy! Then we returned to their home and watched French game shows and Greys Anatomy in French before dinner. I think I went to bed at 8, and woke up this morning still exhausted! jet lag sucks! This morning she outfitted me in her daugters old clothes because it is soooo cold here! and my clothes are not warm enough. I think those are the high lights of what has happened, right now I am just cold, tired, and really overwhelmed, tous les choses sont français! I leave for Tours today (and my host family leaves for the alps to go skiing)!
