So last night my friend and I decided we wanted to see a movie. It was a really interesting experience, because first off we went out for dinner at a boulangerie/patisserie b/c they are so cheap. Then we wandered around and found a really cool book store, but we got kicked out b/c they closed at 7, then we went to H&M b/c it was the only store that was open until 7:30...craziness. And I got ripped off for the second time by H&M so I am done going there. After that we decided to go to the movies b/c we needed to make it back before the tram service ended. When we got to the movies we decided to see Et Apres (I think it is a Belgian movie, but I have no idea). The first thing that was weird is we got there a half an hour early thinking it would be like the US, but once we bought our tickets they told us we had to wait to be seated. So we waited until 10 minutes before the movie was about to start and then they called our theatre to be seated. The theatre was much smaller than the states, but it was pretty nice. It was weird though because before the show everyone was reading a newspaper that the movie theatre produced or they were reading the newspaper, and the theatre was nearly silent. Then once the previews began everyone settled in to watch the previews, and then before the movie began the lights came back up and people went back to reading, it was so weird. The movie we saw Et Apres was a thriller type of movie, but a bit abstract for our French comprehension. I more or less understood the story, but definitely missed something in the middle. When we left the theatre at the end it was weird because you exit down this tiny spiral staircase. It was weird. Something I have noticed is that everyone here seems to be able bodied people, I have yet to see anyone with a visible handicap. Once the movie was over though we just headed to the tram station b/c it was right outside of the movie. It was a little bit bizarre because when we arrived there were either cops or military people with machine guns scanning the station, and then they left. I am not at all sure why.

We signed up for classes yesterday too, that is weird because M de Berranger keeps telling me that I am "shopping" this week and just trying classes. I am considering taking a class at the University but the two I am able to take, that actually fit into my schedule, the first he sort of warned me not to b/c the professor is not very accomodating to international students and they other professor speaks really, really fast. So we will see. But right now hopefully I will be a teaching assistant in an elementary school or middle school to help with English and also I am taking a European Union class, a class of the US and Europe in the Middle East, a Race, Religion, and Politics class in France, Composition, and maybe conversation and phonetics. It should be interesting, because everything starts Monday.

I know have the weekend free and I have no idea what I am going to do! I think I might go back to the bookstore and buy a book to read and maybe buy some spirals and folders for class. I love the public transportation b/c I have a student pass that allows me to ride the tram, buses, and boats, whenever I want! So when they are running I have the freedom to go everywhere!
